Swim Lessons for All

At Swim Lessons with Mary, our desire is that everyone have the opportunity to learn water safety and swim skills - that’s why we're the only swim school in the Upstate who is partnered with Hope Floats, an organization that works to connect low-income families with high-quality swimming lessons.

Curious about the process? Read on below, and if you still have questions feel free to contact us using the form below.

  • How do scholarships work?

Hope Floats provides session long scholarships for swim lessons according to the USDA income guidelines.

Swim Lessons with Mary hosts fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for Hope Floats.  Donations that are made to Hope Floats through the SLWM links, fundraisers or with Swim Lessons with Mary specified in the comments are set aside at Hope Floats for a SLWM specific Scholarship Pool.

Families can apply through Hope Floats website for a Swim Lessons with Mary scholarship that is covered from this pool of donations.

  • What is expected of our family?
    • Consistent attendance at swim lessons
    • Some kind of financial contribution towards the swim lessons
    • Timely submission of family contribution and Hope Floats check to SLWM
    • Complete parent survey following 3 month scholarship
  • How do we apply?
    • Visit Hope Floats Foundation and click 'apply for assistance'
    • Complete online, confidential application
    • Attach most recent ta return with SSN hidden
  • How long does approval take?

Once an application is completed, approval typically takes 3-4 weeks.

If there are no funds in the scholarship bucket, you will remain on a waitlist and will be contacted when more donations are received.

  • Can we participate in swim lessons longer than a couple of months?

Yes!  You can complete a new application and be re-approved for additional scholarships.

We recommend submitting the new application at least 3 weeks before your current scholarship ends.
